An Established and Profitable ReCommerce Retail Project

A profitable ReCommerce mail-order business established in 2015 and featuring a high degree of automation is for sale. The business model is based on purchasing products from private individuals and subsequently reselling them through online marketplaces. Products are sourced through the company’s own purchasing platforms, where private individuals can list their items for sale. This eliminates any dependence on suppliers, retailers, or wholesalers. Inventory is received continuously and directly from private individuals, and remained stable even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Key figures: Annual revenue approx. €280,000, annual profit approx. €100,000. Sales volume of about 3,000 items per month, with approx. 20–30 shipping packages daily. The operational workload currently amounts to about 2–3 hours per weekday. The inventory comprises around 90,000 active items and is fully digitized. The warehouse operates using a barcode-supported chaotic storage system and comprises approximately 120 shelves across a total area of about 200 m². Sales are conducted through two established marketplace accounts. A proprietary software platform automates purchase pricing, inventory reconciliation, and shipping processes. The business is being sold for strategic reasons. Handover and training are available. Industry: Adult products

Buying a company vs. buying a firm

Buying a company means acquiring an independent organizational unit that regularly carries out an economic activity. A company can consist of one or several business operations. An individual can also found such an independent unit if they regularly carry out an economic activity — in that case it is called a sole proprietorship. As a rule, sole proprietors don't have to register in the commercial register; without that registration, they don't legally count as a "firm." A trade name, colloquially a "firm," is the name under which a company or sole proprietor appears publicly and conducts its business. Buying "a firm" therefore technically means acquiring the company's name or trading name. In everyday use, though, it's used interchangeably with buying a company — i.e. acquiring the entire business.
