Freight forwarding group with two fully leased logistics facilities, Central Germany

A family-run freight forwarding group in Central Germany, including its real estate portfolio, is for sale. In 2025, the transportation and logistics company generated approximately 6 million euros in revenue from freight transport and industrial plant logistics. The business includes 48 employees—28 of whom are professional drivers—a modern Euro 6 fleet, and its own repair shop. The two logistics sites comprise approximately 70,000 m² of land and 34,000 m² of warehouse space in a location with excellent transportation access. The warehouses are fully leased to two industrial tenants with corporate affiliations. Base rents and fixed-cost contributions total approximately 1.2 million euros annually. Two acquisition options are available: the purchase of the entire business and real estate, or a split transaction. In this case, the freight forwarding business would go to an operational buyer or successor with a long-term lease of the space, while the real estate would go to a property owner. The reason for the sale is succession planning. The management team will remain available during a transition phase. Indicative offers are to be submitted by December 15, 2026. Purchase price upon request. Interested parties will receive the detailed property description after signing a confidentiality agreement. Reference number D129 V 20252.

Buying a company vs. buying a firm

Buying a company means acquiring an independent organizational unit that regularly carries out an economic activity. A company can consist of one or several business operations. An individual can also found such an independent unit if they regularly carry out an economic activity — in that case it is called a sole proprietorship. As a rule, sole proprietors don't have to register in the commercial register; without that registration, they don't legally count as a "firm." A trade name, colloquially a "firm," is the name under which a company or sole proprietor appears publicly and conducts its business. Buying "a firm" therefore technically means acquiring the company's name or trading name. In everyday use, though, it's used interchangeably with buying a company — i.e. acquiring the entire business.
