AI Meets the Shop Floor: Pre-Seed Investment in Agentic Factory OS with a Live Pilot at a Tier-1 Supplier

When experienced machine operators retire, their process knowledge leaves the factory. Machine data alone does not explain why a system is running differently today than it did yesterday. This is precisely the gap the company is filling. Founded in 2023, this Bavarian industrial tech company—with teams in Aachen and São Paulo—is developing a Physical Agentic Factory OS. AI agents link machine data in real time with operators’ observations and experiential knowledge, using the company’s own kiosk and camera hardware directly on the shop floor and via natural language. This ensures that production knowledge is preserved across shifts and passed on to new employees. The company has entered the market: The first pilot installation is up and running at a Tier-1 automotive supplier, with four machines in daily operation. An expansion to a total of 20 machines has been agreed upon with the customer. Investment Highlights: • First Mover: AI agents, operator knowledge, and proprietary hardware end-to-end; 51 market participants analyzed—no other provider offers this combination • Dual Moat: industry-specific data and proprietary hardware, difficult for pure-play software providers to replicate • On-prem, hybrid, or cloud—GDPR-compliant and internet-independent • Founding team with 25+ years of experience in machine vision and industrial automation, as well as several successful exits • Clearly defined funding round: 1.2 million EUR for 20% (post-money valuation of 6.0 million EUR) to fund 8+ installations, team expansion, and the path to a seed or Series A round.

Buying a company vs. buying a firm

Buying a company means acquiring an independent organizational unit that regularly carries out an economic activity. A company can consist of one or several business operations. An individual can also found such an independent unit if they regularly carry out an economic activity — in that case it is called a sole proprietorship. As a rule, sole proprietors don't have to register in the commercial register; without that registration, they don't legally count as a "firm." A trade name, colloquially a "firm," is the name under which a company or sole proprietor appears publicly and conducts its business. Buying "a firm" therefore technically means acquiring the company's name or trading name. In everyday use, though, it's used interchangeably with buying a company — i.e. acquiring the entire business.
