Becoming a Partner in a Company

Investing in an existing company is an attractive option for private investors and private equity firms. The investor provides the necessary capital at the right time, enabling the company to grow. The primary focus of a corporate investment is typically the return on investment, which is often aimed at the short- to medium-term.

In addition to the traditional business exchange, DUB Premium—launched on November 14, 2022—now serves as a matchmaking platform for companies with annual revenue of €20 million or more.

Purchasing a Company Stake

Purchasing an equity stake in a company can be done through a cash contribution or by increasing the company’s share capital, depending on whether the investor wishes to have a say in the company’s operations. Generally, there are no restrictions as long as both parties agree. Particularly with smaller company investments, a share of the company’s profits is often agreed upon. To minimize the risk of the investment as much as possible, the investor should carefully review the company and its business model before investing. A due diligence process is recommended here to accurately assess the risk.

Seeking and Finding a Company Investment

You can certainly find a potential investment in a company with the prospect of a return on the Deutsche Unternehmensbörse platform. Especially in the private sector, there are many small and medium-sized enterprises that need growth capital and, in return, offer a share of profits or a fixed interest rate.

Company Investment

There are various types of corporate equity investments. Depending on the legal structure and size of the investment, both parties can choose the appropriate model. An equity investment involves the acquisition of company shares. These shares can be stock or partnership interests. A so-called silent partnership exists in both open and closed forms. This depends on whether the investor wishes to be publicly identified or would prefer to remain anonymous. There is also the option of a profit-sharing loan, which is usually tied to a profit-sharing arrangement.
