Seeking a successor for a children's secondhand store as soon as possible

I, the store owner, founded this children’s secondhand store in April 2024, and it is currently open for business. It was Heidelberg’s first children’s secondhand store. The store is located in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim on a street with plenty of foot traffic. It is nearly 100 square meters in size, very bright, and in excellent condition, featuring hardwood floors, solid wood interior, and a large storefront window. The product range includes used but like-new clothing for babies, children, and expectant mothers, as well as shoes, books, and toys in like-new condition, all at a mid-range price point. The business model is based on consignment sales; that is, suppliers receive a percentage of the sale price once their items are sold, and the store retains the majority of the proceeds. There is a large network of suppliers and a large base of regular customers. The store and the business concept are fully viable. A package pickup service is also operated within the premises, which can be terminated at any time if necessary. The purchase price includes: - the entire interior with all associated fixtures and fittings - the entire inventory of goods, i.e., a full store stock - the Instagram account - the website - the existing customer base - brand recognition Handover Process: I have already terminated the lease. It ends on July 14, 2026. A prospective buyer must provide confirmation by July 2 at the latest.

Buying a company vs. buying a firm

Buying a company means acquiring an independent organizational unit that regularly carries out an economic activity. A company can consist of one or several business operations. An individual can also found such an independent unit if they regularly carry out an economic activity — in that case it is called a sole proprietorship. As a rule, sole proprietors don't have to register in the commercial register; without that registration, they don't legally count as a "firm." A trade name, colloquially a "firm," is the name under which a company or sole proprietor appears publicly and conducts its business. Buying "a firm" therefore technically means acquiring the company's name or trading name. In everyday use, though, it's used interchangeably with buying a company — i.e. acquiring the entire business.
