AG (stock corporation)

Stock Corporation – Abbreviation: AG

A stock corporation, or AG for short, is a corporation. The minimum authorized capital is twice that of a GmbH: €50,000. The shareholders hold shares in the form of stock. The AG is the only legal form that provides access to the capital market—that is, the stock exchange—and is therefore commonly found among larger organizations.

AG for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

Since 1994, the “small AG” has existed to make this legal form accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises as well. A small AG is not listed on the stock exchange, has only a small group of shareholders, and is also suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises.
